The Magic Coat Workshops

The Magic Coat is a simple and effective tool for children from 4 to 11 years of age. It is a common language that can be used both at school and at home to discuss ways to solve many different problems that children may face in their day-to-day lives.

The Magic Coat runs workshops in both schools and the community. The workshops may be attended by just children, or both children and parents together. We also offer professional development training for professionals working with children.

Current workshops run by The Magic Coat include:

Using the Magic Coat to Manage Worry and Anxiety

This 90-minute workshop will provide children with a toolkit of strategies to learn how The Magic Coat can help children to:

  • Build confidence

  • Identify their worries

  • Manage big emotions

  • Build resilience

Using the Magic Coat to Manage Friendships and Bullying

This 90-minute workshop will provide children with a toolkit of strategies to learn how The Magic Coat can help children to:

  • Understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships

  • Manage and create new friendships

  • Build confidence, resilience and self-esteem

Using the Magic Coat to Manage Big Emotions

This 90-minute workshop will provide children with a toolkit of strategies to learn how The Magic Coat can help children to:

  • Recognise and identify their emotions

  • Regulate their big emotions

  • Learn simple and effective strategies to manage big emotions such as anger.

Using The Magic Coat to Transition to High School

This 90-minute workshop will provide children will help children to ease into their transition from Primary School into High School. The workshop will provide children with a toolkit of strategies to learn how The Magic Coat can help children to:

  • Recognise their worries about High School

  • Put their worries about High School into perspective

  • Choose healthy friendships

  • Manage unhealthy friendships

  • Get organised for the school year

  • Stay on top of their busy schedule

One-on-One Coaching

The Magic Coat team are now running one-on-one coaching sessions for parents and their children. These sessions are an opportunity for parents and children to learn more about The Magic Coat program, and understand how the strategies in The Magic Coat can assist you at home. 

These sessions are run both in person at ‘The Pocket’ and via Zoom.

Professional Development Training

Are you a professional (teacher, psychologist, social worker etc.) working with children and wish to be trained in the Magic Coat Program?

The Australian Institute of Workplace Training (AIWT) offer professional development training for teachers and other professionals working with children.

This 2-hour professional development training, run by AIWT, will accredit professionals in the Magic Coat program. This accreditation will enable professionals to use the program in the classroom, with small groups and in one-on-one sessions.

The training will introduce professionals to the Magic Coat program and characters. It will also provide professionals with information on how to use the program to run one-on-one and small group sessions. Upon completion of the training, your details will be added to the Magic Coat Website as an accredited Magic Coat facilitator.
